Job summary

The Office of the New York State Comptroller is seeking Auditors to perform systematic examinations and appraisals of accounting records and financial affairs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Auditors will collaborate with Retirement Services managers and employers to complete audits, evaluate internal controls, and identify weaknesses. The position is located in Albany, New York, offering opportunities for advancement from trainee levels to the full performance grade.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation; or bachelor’s degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting/auditing/taxation courses.
• One year of professional accounting/auditing or financial internal/field auditing experience for Auditor Trainee 2 appointment.
• Two years of professional accounting/auditing or financial internal/field auditing experience for Auditor 1 appointment.
• Ability to collect, analyze and draw accurate conclusions from large amounts of data.
• Ability to read, understand and apply laws, rules, regulations and policies.
• Ability to explain audit findings and recommendations clearly in written and verbal form.
