Job summary

The Office of the New York State Comptroller seeks Auditors to assist counties, towns, villages, schools, and state districts by conducting financial and performance audits, providing technical assistance, and reviewing local government fiscal health.

The position is based in Syracuse and requires 100% travel within the assigned regional office or work unit. Auditors conduct interviews, develop audit scope and tests, analyze findings, prepare reports, and provide guidance to local officials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.
• Auditor Trainee 2: one year of professional accounting/auditing experience OR master's/doctoral degree in related field
• Auditor 1: two years of professional accounting/auditing experience OR master's/doctoral degree with one year of professional accounting/auditing experience
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Good knowledge and use of technology
• Strong organizational skills and work ethic
