Job summary

NC Department of Transportation seeks an entry-level Engineer I (NS) for the New Bern Construction Office to assist the Resident Engineer in managing roadway and structure contracts, perform field inspections, prepare pay estimates, and coordinate with contractors, utilities, and local officials.

You will supervise lower-level technicians, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and apply safety standards; familiarity with SharePoint and HICAMS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
• Registration as PE may be required
• Experience with highway construction plans and contracts
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally

Responsibilities

• Perform project field inspections and prepare monthly/final pay estimates
• Create, review, and evaluate supplemental agreements and claims
• Ensure compliance with DOT and environmental permit requirements
• Supervise lower-level technicians and act as DOT project representative in meetings
