Job summary

LMI Government Consulting is seeking an Android Engineer to join our mobile team. You’ll build and maintain an Android app for Zebra handheld devices using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, integrating RFID/barcode hardware while ensuring secure, offline-capable features.

You’ll work with backend teams to synchronize data, learn DoD deployment requirements, and contribute to secure development practices in a remote, U.S.-based role with potential field travel.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of professional Android development experience or equivalent through internships, coursework, projects.
• Familiarity with Kotlin and modern Android application development.
• Interest in learning Jetpack Compose and asynchronous programming concepts (Kotlin coroutines/Flow).
• Familiarity with Android architecture concepts, DI, and local data storage.
• Interest in hardware integrations such as RFID readers, barcode scanners, sensors or peripheral devices.
• Willingness to learn cybersecurity, RMF/ATO, and DoD deployment requirements.
• U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the Android application for rugged Zebra devices.
• Work with a multi-module codebase alongside experienced developers.
• Write Kotlin and Jetpack Compose code interacting with hardware data (RFID/barcode/sensors).
• Implement offline data handling, local caching, and secure storage.
• Collaborate with backend teams for reliable syncing and UX consistency.
• Assist with testing, debugging, and field-reported device issues.
• Participate in code reviews and team discussions to improve code quality.
• Learn Android development best practices and secure development patterns.
