Job summary

LMI is seeking an Android Engineer to join our mobile team and contribute to the RFID Android app for Zebra devices. You will write Kotlin, work with Jetpack Compose, and integrate hardware SDKs to deliver secure, offline-capable features for production.

In a hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with backend teams and peers to ensure reliable syncing and a consistent user experience, while learning best practices for DoD deployment and secure development.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of Android development experience or equivalent through internships, coursework, or projects.
• Proficient in Kotlin and modern Android app development.
• Interest in Jetpack Compose; familiarity is a plus.
• Basic understanding of coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming.
• Knowledge of Android architecture, DI, and local data storage.
• Interest in hardware integrations like RFID readers, barcode scanners, sensors.
• Willingness to learn cybersecurity, app hardening, and DoD deployment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build features and maintain the Android app for Zebra handheld devices.
• Collaborate in a multi-module codebase with experienced developers.
• Write clean Kotlin and Jetpack Compose code interfacing with RFID and sensors.
• Implement offline data handling, caching, and secure storage.
• Work with backend teams to ensure reliable syncing and UX.
• Assist in testing, debugging, and field issue resolution.
• Participate in code reviews and improve code quality and reliability.
