Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Junior Android Developer to contribute to customer-facing Android features, fixes, tests, and improvements in Kotlin. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, product partners, and designers to translate requirements into maintainable code and gradually expand your scope.

Requirements include foundational Kotlin/Java knowledge, core Android concepts, and experience building at least one Android app. U.S.

Qualifications

• 2 years with BS/BA; 6 years with HS Diploma/equivalent.
• Foundational Kotlin or Java knowledge and OOP concepts.
• Understanding core Android concepts (activities/fragments/Compose screens, lifecycle).
• Experience building at least one Android app via coursework, internship, bootcamp, or project.
• Familiar with REST APIs, JSON, async work, local data storage, and debugging tools.
• Ability to write readable code and explain implementation choices.
• Working knowledge of Git or another VCS.
• Interest in automated testing and team quality practices.
• Clear communication, curiosity, and receptiveness to feedback.
• Authorization and location eligibility per hiring policy.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Location eligibility consistent with company policy.

Responsibilities

• 2 years with BS/BA; 6 years with HS Diploma/equivalent.
• Implement Android features and bug fixes in Kotlin under guidance.
• Build UI with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views per requirements.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and UI tests.
• Use Git and workflow to create changes and address feedback.
• Investigate defects using reproduction steps, logs, and crash reports.
• Collaborate with product, design, backend, QA, and mobile peers.
• Participate in planning, standups, demos, retrospectives, and releases.
• Document implementation details and share learnings with the team.
• Follow accessibility, performance, security, privacy, analytics, and error handling practices.
