Job summary

County of San Benito is seeking an Accountant I to perform a variety of accounting, fiscal analysis, and auditing tasks in support of County financial records and systems. The incumbent learns County policies and computerized financial management, payroll, and tax systems while performing defined duties.

Responsibilities include maintaining ledgers, reviewing disbursement of funds, balancing revenue, and supporting annual audits.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to successful completion of courses required for a major in accounting at an accredited four-year college or university, or successful completion of a professional accounting curriculum which included courses in elementary and advanced accounting, auditing.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain County fiscal records and ledgers.
• Review fiscal records to ensure proper disbursement of funds.
• Balance revenue information and oversee payroll functions.
• Audit financial records and prepare information for final audits.
• Prepare financial reports and statements for management.”
• Assist with development and control of budget information.
• Coordinate posting of journal entries and liaison with auditors.
