Job summary

City of Albuquerque's Aviation Department is seeking an Accountant I to provide entry-level accounting support, posting data to ledgers, preparing journal vouchers, and assisting in the Annual Financial Report.

The role includes maintaining accounts, preparing monthly reports, responding to auditors, and training staff in accounting and budgeting. It is a full-time position in Albuquerque, NM with standard city benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or finance with six credit hours in accounting.
• One year of accounting experience.
• The six (6) required credit hours in accounting are not interchangeable.

Responsibilities

• Post data to general ledgers, registers, journals and logs; prepare journal vouchers.
• Assist in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report and related statements.
• Maintain accounts and general ledgers; prepare monthly fiscal reports for funds.
• Prepare financial reports for departments and funds and reconcile data.
• Audit ledgers and resolve discrepancies; respond to auditors during audits.
• Provide technical assistance and training on accounting and budgeting.

Education
