Job summary

Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network is seeking an experienced accountant to handle accounts payable and related financial duties in an on-site role in Texas. You will prepare and post records, process payments, and assist with audits, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in accounting or AP, a high school diploma (associates preferred), and strong numerical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience in accounting and financial operations. One to three years of accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related financial experience required.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent required. Associates degree or equivalent years of experience with major course work in accounting or related field is generally preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to transactions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • To work accurately with numerical detail, and to analyze, consolidate and interpret accounting data.
  • Ability to learn about and implement trauma-informed care practices within the scope of work for the position.
  • Must have excellent time management/organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial records and controls and operating reports.
  • Assist with audit requests by locating invoices, payment records, purchase orders, and other supporting documentation.
  • Processing check and ach payments for external vendors.
  • Prepares trial balances, substantive financial statements, special exhibits, or schedules.
  • Prepares payment, cash, general journal, and related vouchers.
  • Checks accounting operations in progress, reviewing and auditing completed financial records for accuracy and conformance with legal and departmental procedures and regulations.
  • Research reconciliation discrepancies and reports findings.
  • Keeps abreast of legislative changes which affect the management of funds.
  • May be responsible for receiving, depositing, allocating and auditing federal funds or special state funds or appropriations.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Salary: $50,000 annually/$24.0384
