Job summary

Brightwing is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Michigan. The role balances AR collections (about 25%) with bank reconciliations, journal entries, sales tax returns, and various financial reporting tasks (about 75%).

You'll collaborate with Accounting, Sales, and Management to ensure accuracy and drive scalable processes as the organization grows. 3+ years in accounting and ERP proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a general staff accountant.
• 3+ years of experience as Accounts Receivable Specialist.
• Ability to manage multi-company accounting functions.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting required.
• Strong customer service, data entry, and organizational skills.
• Experience with ERP systems for invoicing, payments and reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP, Excel, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure payments from clients are made on time and in accordance with terms.
• Own the collection of delinquent AR accounts and credit customer accounts with payments received.
• Complete monthly reconciliations related to month-end AR accounts.
• Prepare journal entries for month end close.
• Maintain communication with internal staff to update on collections issues.
• Document collection efforts for management review on client accounts.
• Develop problem-solving and multitasking skills to resolve account issues while meeting goals.

Staff Accountant to play a key role in our financial operations and contribute to our organization's growth. This position offers a dynamic mix of responsibilities, with approximately 25% of your time focused on accounts receivable collections and cash receipt processes and 75% dedicated to bank reconciliations, journal entries, sales tax returns, and various financial reporting tasks.

You'll work closely with our Accounting, Sales, and Management teams, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. What you’ll do:

• Ensure payments from clients are made consistent with terms and on time.
• Take full ownership of the collection of delinquent accounts receivable and accurately credit customer accounts with payments received.
• Complete monthly account reconciliations related to month-end accounts receivable accounts.
• Prepare journal entries for month end close.
• Maintain continuous communication with internal staff to update on collections issues.
• Document collection and client efforts accordingly on their accounts for management review.
• Develop and use problem-solving and multitasking skills to quickly identify and resolve account issues while meeting department goals.

What you’ll need:

• Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a general staff accountant.
• Proven working experience as an Accounts Receivable Specialist with 3+ years of experience
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-company accounting function
• Associate’s degree in Accounting
• Strong customer service, data entry, and organizational skills.
• Experience working in ERP systems for invoice and payment submission and reconciliation
• Above average Microsoft Dynamics (GP), Excel and Microsoft Office experience
