Job summary

Horizon Technology is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities and partner with Sales on cross-functional initiatives. You will gain hands-on experience in AP/AR, month-end close, and maintaining accurate financial records, while benefiting from a mentorship-driven environment in a growing company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with pivot tables and lookup functions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions with coding, matching, and payments.
• Manage accounts receivable including invoicing and collections.
• Post month-end journal entries and support close process.
• Assist with reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Support Sales with ad hoc reporting requests and projects.
• Assist with audits and process improvements.

Job Purpose Summary

We're looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our accounting team. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience across core accounting functions while working closely with our Accounting Supervisor and cross-functional partners in Sales. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who wants to build a strong foundation in AP/AR, month-end close, and business partnering.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, matching, and payment runs
• Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and collections follow-up
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries as part of the close process
• Assist with account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Help with ad hoc projects and reporting requests from the Sales team
• Support Accounting Supervisor on special projects, process improvements, and audit requests
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
• Basic understanding of AP/AR processes and general ledger concepts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP a plus)
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Great Plains) a plus, but not required

Pay Range:

$57,000 – $67,000 annually, depending on experience.
