Job summary

SCM Real Estate Services is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Dallas/Fort Worth. This entry-level role works hands-on in Rent Manager and supports broader accounting functions. Pay is commensurate with experience.

You will perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, process accounts payable and receivable, and prepare journal entries. Collaboration with the small team and CPA coordination will be part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business; recent graduates encouraged.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Rent Manager experience a plus.
• Ability to work independently and in a small team; interest in commercial real estate accounting.

Responsibilities

SCM Real Estate Services provides private and institutional owners of office, retail, industrial, and flex properties across Dallas/Fort Worth and South Texas with property management services that go beyond the norm. SCM works hand-in-hand with its sister company, Skywalker Property Partners, an entrepreneurial commercial real estate investment firm that sources and repositions value-add properties across Texas and the Southwest. The Position

We're looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a hands‑on, entry-level opportunity working directly in Rent Manager and supporting our broader accounting functions. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Monthly bank reconciliations across all entities
• Monthly credit card reconciliations
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
• Journal entries and coding of expenses
• Day‑to‑day data entry and transaction processing in Rent Manager

Accounting Support & Reporting

• Review of financials for accuracy prior to management review
• Compiling information to support management decision‑making
• Providing CPAs with information needed for tax return preparation
• Reviewing property management reports for accuracy

Entity & Transaction Support

• Assisting with entity organization and closing documentation for acquisitions and dispositions
• Supporting entity management and corporate governance recordkeeping (minutes, resolutions, banking setup) as needed
• Assisting with miscellaneous accounting duties and ad hoc projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business (or equivalent combination of education/experience); recent graduates and candidates seeking a steady, entry‑level role are encouraged to apply
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; intense attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); Rent Manager experience a plus
• Self‑starter with a strong work ethic and genuine interest in accounting
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
• Understanding of, or interest in, commercial real estate accounting a plus
• Flexibility – the ability to accept change is crucial as this role and the company evolve
