Job summary

Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court is seeking a Court Magistrate Clerk to support the legal division and assigned jurists. You will help manage a busy docket, record proceedings, swear in witnesses, draft journal entries, and communicate with judges, counsel, litigants, and the public.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Three years’ work experience in a clerical position.
• Ability to pass pre-employment skills tests (40 WPM keyboarding, 16/25 spelling).
• Strong organization, communication, and ability to work with the public.
• Knowledge of magistrate duties, court procedures, and journal entries.

Responsibilities

• Provide secretarial and clerical support to the magistrate to move daily docket efficiently.
• Types journal entries, findings of fact, orders, and correspondence accurately.
• Greet and assist the public; manage phone inquiries and court scheduling.
• Prepare notices, secure and track court records, and maintain filing systems.
• Enter hearing results and dispositions into case management systems.
