Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with four years of office experience, preferably in a legal setting.
• Four years of post high school education preferred.
• Four years of computer experience with knowledge of Word and Excel required.
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and assists with the calendar for the Circuit Court Commissioners and Circuit Court Judges, including court hearings, conferences, and meetings.
• Clerks in court for various case types, prepares court minutes of proceedings heard by the Circuit Court officials; generates Judgments of Convictions; and prepares or verifies received orders resulting from the hearings.
• Reviews court files and paperwork prior to court hearing, verifying the case is ready to proceed to a hearing.
• Compiles and processes files sent to the Court of Appeals.
• Receives, processes, and files a variety of court related and other legal documents; dispenses information to the general public, other County Departments and attorneys in response to telephone inquiries or personal visits.
• Prepares letters or documents of general, technical, and confidential nature.
• Maintains accurate records and prepares reports, when necessary.
• Maintains confidentiality in specific areas as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
