Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Junior Network Engineer for a position on Kauai, HI. Provides entry-level network support toward engineering design, security, administration, and organization to PMRF networks.

Works under supervision to configure routers, switches, firewalls, and related devices in compliance with DoD/DoN/PMRF policy. Responsibilities include assisting with RMF C&A submissions, auditing, cyber security tasks, and lab builds.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in the field.
  • Knowledge of IT systems including Windows and RHEL.
  • Networking concepts; Cisco/Juniper certifications are a plus.
  • DOD 8570.1M IAT Level I certification.
  • Able to pass a thorough background investigation.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry-level network support and configuration for PMRF networks.
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and related devices.
  • Assist in RMF ATO/C&A package submissions under supervision.
  • Review audit logs and support incident resolution.
  • Support lab testing and network asset management.
  • Follow PMRF configuration management procedures for hardware/software.
  • Assist with status reports and documentation for management.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Job description

Amentum is seeking a Junior Network Engineer for a position on Kauai, HI. Provides entry level network support towards engineering design, security, administration, and organization to all classified and unclassified PMRF mission specific networks. Under the guidance of supervisory and senior network engineers, configures and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices in accordance with Department of Defense (DoW), Department of Navy (DoN), and Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) policy. Assists with system wide troubleshooting and problem resolution both in “stand-down” as well as “live” mission environments.

Responsibilities
  • Execute Junior Network Engineering for the Range Networks, IT Department.
  • Selectively operate, maintain, and configure PMRF network hardware, associated on classified and unclassified network equipment, to include routers, switches, firewalls, IDS, IPS, and other linked technological infrastructure.
  • Assist in daily review of audits logs, supporting resolution of event diagnosis data.
  • Address routine network-centric Cyber Security scanning and configuration requirements.
  • Practices routine Cyber Security related tasks/requirements utilizing the following tools: Eye Retina, DISA STIGS, SCAP, SRR scripts, and/or Nessus.
  • Under guidance, maintain 100% network device compliance with DoD directed IAVM program(s).
  • Participate in successful RMF C&A Package submissions under the guidance of supervisor and/or senior members.
  • Assist in preparation of status reports, technical reports, procedures (operational and maintenance) to Management and Customers.
  • Follow the requirements in the Configuration Management Plan for all hardware and software relevant to the PMRF networks.
  • Perform network asset/property accountability and license management within specifications of PMRF contract.
  • Assist and support lab environment testing/buildouts with senior team members.
  • Perform other additional duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling over 25-50 lbs.
  • Work positions requirements: walking, standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling or cramped. Work requiring repeated stooping, or frequent climbing.
  • Working environment activities: customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, office laboratory, field assignment, and inclement weather.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School or equivalent
  • Two years’ experience in the specific field
  • Advance certifications or education may be substituted for experience
  • Knowledge of IT systems, to include Windows, RHEL, and comprehensive networking concepts - Cisco and/or Juniper certifications are considered a plus
  • Knowledge in Cyber Security Methods and Techniques considered a plus
  • DOD 8570.1M IAT Level I
  • Possesses professional and ethical standards and be able to pass a thorough background investigation
  • Critical thinking - Proven problem solver
  • Good written and oral communication skills are required including ability to organize
Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Top Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.

Compensation Details:

$75K - $90K
