Job summary

Peterbilt of Alaska is seeking a Journeyman Service Technician in Anchorage, AK to diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks. You will inspect engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems, and perform field service across town and remote sites.

The role requires a Journeyman level technician with strong mechanical knowledge, 5+ years in over-the-road diesel trucks, and a valid driver's license. Full-time, benefits and growth opportunities offered.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and estimate repairs on engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Travel to field equipment in town and remote locations.
  • Produce detailed service reports and maintain accurate timekeeping and expenses.
  • Use internal computer systems and diagnostic tools for parts and work orders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

A little about the position:

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, our full-time Journeyman Technician position is responsible for analyzing the root causes of equipment failures and proposing corrective actions. Also perform journeyman duties, regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions, repairs and replacements. This position will adhere to a 4/10 work schedule. Here in Anchorage, we have a heated and air-conditioned warehouse! It is a nice size with a great floorplan. Our building is easily located right off 4th street behind Wendy's.

Some of the duties of this position:
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, estimate repairs on engines, powertrains, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and more.
  • Regular travel to field equipment both in town and remote
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports, accurate timekeeping and expense tracking
  • Competent and thorough use of internal computer systems, including electronic diagnostic tools, parts management and work order management software
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills for success:
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Mechanical knowledge.
  • Journeyman level technician skills.
  • High level of technical troubleshooting ability with experience in aftertreatment, engine, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Our job requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience with over the road heavy duty diesel trucks.
  • Able to work 40+ hrs per week.
  • Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
A little about the physical requirements

The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Team members must be able to lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis and be able to stand for long periods of time. Bending, lifting, and pushing will also be required.
