Job summary

The University of Arizona is seeking a qualified plumber to support Housing & Residential Life. This full-time, on-site role performs skilled plumbing work in university dormitories, including installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of complex systems.

A valid driver’s license and a journeyman license are preferred; Backflow Tester certification is a plus. Salary range provided with full benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/training.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive per University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Journeyman plumber license or certification preferred.
  • Backflow Tester certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs journeyman level installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of commercial and institutional plumbing systems.
  • Diagnoses and resolves complex plumbing issues affecting buildings and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoots system failures, leaks, pressure issues, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Responds to emergency service calls and restores systems with minimal disruption.
  • Inspects valves, pumps, boilers, water heaters, fixtures, and other components; repairs/replaces as needed.
  • Performs planned maintenance including valves exercise, fixture rebuilding, and cleaning drinking fountains.
  • Tests and repairs backflow assemblies.
  • Maintains safety, workmanship, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Represents Housing & Residential Life with a professional appearance and public relations.
  • Communicates with residents, staff, supervisors, contractors, and other trades to coordinate work.
  • Participates in Housing Emergency On-Call Program.
