Job summary

University of Arizona is seeking a qualified Plumber to support Housing & Residential Life. The role performs highly skilled plumbing work across dorm facilities, handling installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of complex systems in a safe, code-compliant manner.

The position requires expert knowledge of plumbing codes and mechanical room systems, with ability to diagnose issues from routine service calls to large-scale failures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tools, testing equipment, and materials used in plumbing.
• Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and safety standards.
• Knowledge of mechanical operation of pumps, boilers, heaters, and plumbing components.
• Skilled installation, repair, and maintenance of all plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs journeyman level installation, inspection, testing, preventive maintenance and repair of commercial and institutional plumbing systems.
• Diagnoses and resolves complex plumbing issues affecting buildings and infrastructure.
• Independently troubleshoots system failures, leaks, pressure issues, and equipment malfunctions.
• Responds to emergency service calls and restores systems with minimal disruption.
• Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, and other components to locate malfunctions.
