Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Longview, WA is actively seeking a journey-level Pipefitter to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of maintenance and repair activities on piping and valves in our large paper mill, read blueprints, and collaborate with management, engineering and vendors to ensure reliable equipment operation.

We value safety, training, and independence, with a starting wage of $39.58 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years in industrial maintenance as a journey level Pipefitter.
• Formal apprenticeship or education preferred.
• Experience welding carbon and stainless steel.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read/interpret technical documents and operate basic software.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance-related tasks in the maintenance department.
• Repair/improve equipment related to pulp and paper processes.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Safely operate overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machines, welding equipment, and related tools.
• Read or sketch blueprints and perform fit ups.
• Layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.
• Assemble components and fabricate equipment as needed.
• Position pieces to be welded using fixtures and measuring tools.
• Operate cutting equipment.
• Fabricate and assemble piping and tubing per specs.
• Select pipe/type and size per job plans.
