Job summary

Amcor in Tacoma is seeking a journeyman maintenance technician with high-level mechanical skills related to molding machines, auxiliary systems, and a manufacturing plant’s general infrastructure needs.

You will diagnose problems, perform preventive maintenance, and work overtime as needed while providing your own tools. Safety is a top priority, and you will collaborate with maintenance staff to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds or more repeatedly.
• Prior experience with injection and blow mold machines in a maintenance capacity.
• Basic math skills with an understanding of the decimal system.
• Ability to work overtime and be on call to handle emergency situations.
• Understanding of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic functions.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to safety is a #1 priority.
• Diagnose problems and make important repairs to get the machine back online as quickly as possible.
• Communicate with affected team members on the production floor, in setups, and other maintenance personnel.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Provide your own tools.
• Use the appropriate tool in the safest way possible for the task.
• Support the Maintenance Manager in meeting team/plant goals, searching for cost‑saving opportunities, and managing downtime.
