Job summary

Construction Association of Michigan is seeking a skilled lineman to join a team delivering reliable electric service. You will perform inspections, maintenance, and construction on substations and distribution systems, working with overhead and underground infrastructure in all weather and hours.

The role requires completing a lineman apprenticeship and possessing a valid Indiana Class A CDL, with safety-first practices and strong teamwork to support apprentices and colleagues across the CEL&P

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Successful completion of an approved lineman apprenticeship program.
Journeyman level preferred.
Valid Indiana Class A CDL Driver’s License.
First aid, CPR, AED certification.
Willingness to relocate within twenty miles of the CEL&P service building.

Responsibilities

Construct, maintain and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems.
Set towers/poles, maintain and repair lines, install and maintain equipment.
Work in below grade structures to pull, splice, and connect underground cables and meters.
Install and maintain energized distribution lines and equipment under all weather conditions.
Assist in the in-service training of apprentices.
Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical street lights.
Observe safety rules and use appropriate PPE.
Operate equipment such as Digger/Derrick, Aerial Lift, forklift, backhoe, trencher and cutters.
