Job summary

United Utility, based in New Orleans, LA, is seeking an Overhead Journeyman Lineman to ensure safe, reliable electricity delivery nationwide. Under Foreman supervision, install, troubleshoot, repair, and remove overhead/underground distribution lines, operate bucket and digger trucks, and support apprentices.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years’ experience on high-voltage lines, a valid CDL-A license, and strong leadership and safety skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience working on energized high-voltage lines.
• Must possess a valid CDL-A license with clear driving record.
• Must be able to read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, procedures, work orders, blueprints, spec books, system maps and diagrams.
• Must possess leadership skills to guide and train others safely.
• Must understand and use English in communication.
• Must properly fill out documents and lead pre/post job meetings.
• Must be dependable and trustworthy.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and procedures per company manual.
• Identify and use materials to install, transfer, or convert equipment.
• Follow switching orders to transfer/load and de-energize loads.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions.
• Provide on-the-job training for ground crew and apprentices.
• Inspect equipment and initiate repairs per procedures.
• Install, troubleshoot, and remove distribution equipment.
• Use hot line tools in safety procedures.
• Work on energized lines following safety rules.
• Operate standard equipment per industry and safety standards.
• Organize and maintain inspections and records for equipment and tools.
• Climb structures/poles and work from elevated positions.
• Travel for storm recovery; extend work schedules as needed.
