Meade County Rural Electric Cooperative is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to perform line work on energized and de-energized circuits and maintain safety standards. The role reports to the Foreman/District Supervisor and requires knowledge of utility operations and lockout/tagout procedures.

The position involves climbing, operating equipment, and working in varying weather conditions. A CDL and strong teamwork are essential for success in this role within the Operations department.

Formación

• Ability to read, write, measure, and perform math tasks.
• Good physical condition and dexterity; able to work in heat/cold and at heights.

Responsabilidades

• Perform line work on de-energized and energized lines.
• Know oil circuit reclosures, sectionalizers, fuse disconnects, transformers, regulators and switches, including grounding and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Make line transformer connections and disconnections for single and three-phase applications.
• Lay-up, sag and tie in conductors.
• Be familiar with RUS specifications on pole framing applications and apply them on ground and in air.
• Make approved splices in conductors.
• Be familiar with ropes, gins, blocks, knot tying, and small & non-mechanical tools.
• Make daily checks on tools and PPE; recommend replacements when necessary.
• Utilize co-op computers, tablets, and cell phones in compliance with data/security policies.
• Be familiar with staking procedures and maps as needed for assignments.
• Operate cooperative transportation equipment safely and hold a CDL certification.
• Ability to perform pole top rescue, CPR and basic first aid procedures.
• Be trained in line skills in classroom and field settings per OSHA 1910.269.
• Perform standby service duty as assigned.
• Must work overtime as requested.
• Be familiar with cooperative computer services and programs.
