- Construct, build, and maintain OH/UG electric facilities with primary voltages up to 34.5KV, including but not limited to:
- Installation, removal, and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services.
- Installation of OH/UG transformers and wiring of all types of transformer banks.
- Installation, including wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
- Driving various sizes and types of trucks.
- Operating equipment such as aerial bucket trucks and digger derrick trucks.
- Reading and understanding job prints and sketches.
- Recognizing materials and their functions.
- Setting and climbing all sizes of poles in open areas, alleys, and energized lines.
- Being available for on-call duty and emergency response.
Qualifications
Experience: 5 years of lineman experience
Required Qualifications:
- Possession or ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Physical ability to perform tasks in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments.
- Ability to follow directives and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to plan and execute work safely and efficiently.
- Leadership ability to direct other linemen's work.
- Commitment to safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to learn through classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and repetitive tasks.
- Ability to climb and work off poles of various heights.
- Ability to recognize and mitigate hazards in the workplace.
- Proper maintenance and care of company equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills and tactful interaction with the public.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Acceptance of diversity and inclusion in the work environment and customer interactions.
Essential Functions
- Traverse uneven terrain with tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Perform solo restoration work when needed.
- Perform physical tasks such as digging, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- Operate trucks and heavy equipment safely around energized lines.
- Work at heights for extended periods.
- Perform overhead work from bucket trucks.
- Climb structures, poles, and ladders; maintain balance and dexterity.
- Perform emergency rescue operations.
- Work safely in dangerous environments with sound judgment.
- Follow safety protocols and rules.
- Work up to 16 hours continuously if required.
- Wear personal protective equipment as needed.
- Perform basic computer tasks related to work documentation and communication.
- Communicate effectively within a team.
- Manage stress and tense situations.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Work overtime as necessary.
