Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company in Sheldon, IA is seeking a Line Mechanic - may accept a 1st step apprentice to install and maintain electric distribution and transmission systems, including overhead and underground facilities and associated gas piping work.

The role requires working around energized circuits, operating substation equipment and performing meter and location tasks, with emphasis on safety, training others, and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Class "A" CDL required - Pipeline/Hwy Alcohol & Drug Testing - CIP certification
• Must be a fully qualified journeyman line mechanic or have completed a qualifying one-year line school.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of Electric Service Technician, Utility Operator and Meter Utility Person. Performs all work in a safe manner.
• Operates substation equipment to restore service and diagnose relay targets, amp readings, voltage readings and related equipment.
• Reads meters, locates underground facilities, and conducts work with various energized circuits and equipment.
