Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company, a Midwest utility, is seeking an Electric Service Technician to install and maintain electric distribution and transmission systems in Waterloo, IA. The role covers overhead and underground facilities, meter installation and reading, and ensuring safety procedures are followed.

You will work with a crew or alone, performing diagnostics, switching operations, and substation tasks to restore service.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL required.
• Current journeyman card/certificate/license or evidence of satisfactorily completing an apprenticeship is preferred.
• Experience as a journeyworker with at least four years related experience in overhead/underground utilities and related hardware.

Responsibilities

• Install, change, transfer, move and remove meters and voltage recording devices; set up network meters.
• Install, operate and diagnose electrical circuits, switches, relays and protection devices to restore service.
• Read meters, inspect poles and towers, and perform climbing inspections as needed.
• Locate underground gas and electric facilities and assist with tree trimming as required.
• Lead, train and instruct employees; complete field reports and track materials/time.
