Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company in Des Moines, IA seeks an Electric Service Technician to install and maintain electric distribution and transmission systems, including overhead and underground facilities, and related gas pipe as described.

You will perform duties across multiple roles, read meters, operate substations, locate utilities, and lead or train staff when needed. A Class A CDL and journeyman credentials are required, along with safety training and ability to work with hot line tools.

Qualifications

• Must be an experienced journeyworker, with at least four years related experience.
• Current journeyworker card/certificate/license and/or evidence of satisfactorily completing an apprenticeship training program preferred.
• Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.
• CDL Class A required; CIP certification; safety procedures knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of Electric Service Technician, Utility Operator and Meter Utility Person.
• Installs, changes, transfers, moves and removes poles, line hardware, transformers, streetlight equipment and electrical components.
• Operates substation equipment to restore service including breakers, reclosers, and voltage regulation controls.
• Locates underground gas and electric facilities and conducts routine field reports.
