Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to prepare, handle, and supply materials for other crafts on site in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. You will load/unload equipment, erect scaffolding, level ground, and manage concrete and grout tasks while guiding junior team members.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and effective communication across diverse teams, with opportunities to contribute to a wide range of construction projects.

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend mortar and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and debris removal, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
