Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to support materials handling and supply for other crafts. The role includes loading/unloading, scaffolding setup, concrete work, and assisting Laborer I/II and Apprentices on site.

The position requires completion of a two-year apprenticeship, construction experience preferred, and strong teamwork and communication skills. Physical effort and lifting up to 50 lbs are involved with team assistance.

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend mortar and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
