Job summary

The Industrial Company (TIC) in Mississippi seeks a skilled structural steel erector to read blueprints, lay out and install steel components, and oversee erection to code and safety standards.

You will position and hoist beams, verify alignment with plumb and laser tools, weld or bolt connections, and inspect work while coordinating with crane crews; rigorous outdoor work, overtime, and strict safety standards are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; related field experience helpful.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications accurately.
• Must have safety training and ability to pass pre-employment testing.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications or blueprints to determine material quantities and locations.
• Fabricate metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units with cranes.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bobs, laser tools, transits or levels.
• Cut, bend or weld steel pieces using shears, torches or welding equipment.
• Position structural members for bolting, riveting or welding into place.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy materials.
• Estimate sizes, distances and quantities needed for the work.
