Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to operate heavy machinery for road construction and maintenance projects. You will load, grade, and move materials, and perform routine maintenance and safety checks while following project procedures.

This role requires the ability to work on a construction site, adapt to outdoor weather, and comply with safety and operational rules. Candidates should be prepared for irregular hours and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or related experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.
• Strong safety awareness and communication with supervision

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and heavy equipment to excavate, move, and grade material on roads and rights-of-way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade surfaces; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Maintain fluid levels and lubrication; perform routine maintenance and basic repairs.
• Possibly train and instruct others in safe operation and job techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify defects or issues.
