Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a skilled equipment operator to perform heavy equipment tasks on road maintenance projects. The role involves operating multiple machines, loading materials, grading surfaces and maintaining equipment safety and readiness. A focus on safe operation and adherence to project rules is essential.

The position requires the ability to work in varying outdoor conditions, stand/walk for long periods, and comply with scheduling including overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant field experience.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Effective communication with supervision and management.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment to perform maintenance and road work on rights-of-way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation and techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects and issues.
