Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous years of experience in the field or related area preferred.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and large heavy equipment to maintain and repair roads and rights-of-way.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
• May instruct and train employees in safe operation and techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify faults or defects.
