Job summary

Montgomery College in Rockville is seeking a Full-Time Electrician in the Facilities Department. Hours are Mon-Fri 7:30 am–4:00 pm with a bargaining, non-exempt status.

The technician will perform maintenance, testing and repair of electrical systems, fire alarms, and emergency power systems while ensuring safety and compliance across facilities. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, four years of commercial electrical experience, and a Maryland Journeyman license.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED and vocational electrical training.
• At least four years of progressively responsible commercial electrical experience.
• Maryland Journeyman Electrician license is required.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• NICET certification and fire alarm licenses are preferred.
• Current Maryland journeyman or master electrician license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, repair, load and test electrical systems, circuits and devices.
• Troubleshoot and maintain emergency and standby systems, generators, UPS and fire alarms.
• Identify and install wiring, conduit, fixtures, transformers and electrical panels as needed.
• Plan routing and layout of electrical lines, panels and controls for safe operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and fire alarm components.
• Inspect and repair power cables, switches, fuse boxes and electrical panels.
• Respond to service calls and troubleshoot electrical equipment and lighting circuits.
