Electrical Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to perform various electrical system testing, maintenance, and repair tasks. The ideal candidate will ensure safety, compliance, and functionality of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and roadside settings.

1. Testing and Diagnostics: Test electrical systems using tools such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to identify issues, ensure safety, and verify system compatibility.
2. Documentation: Record actions taken, testing results, observations, diagnoses, and steps to resolve issues for each job.
3. Repair: Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring, or devices.
4. Assessment: Determine necessary steps to evaluate electrical situations using testing devices, blueprints, and maps.
5. Safety: Maintain a safe work environment by following all company and OSHA safety guidelines and reporting violations.
6. Installation and Maintenance: Use ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and lifts to work on electrical systems in various settings.
7. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls, assess safety upon arrival, and provide guidance to affected individuals.
8. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment is in good condition and report issues to supervisors.

Requirements

• Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more regularly
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to bend conduit
• Ability to work at different levels, including squatting and standing for long periods
