Job summary

Coweta County School District is seeking a Journeyman Mechanic 1 to diagnose problems, maintain shop records, and order needed parts for a fleet of school buses. The role requires handling mid-range diesel engines (International, Cummins, Mercedes), gasoline engines, hydraulic and air brake systems, and drive lines.

Experience with radio and camera systems is a plus. The position emphasizes the ability to work with minimal supervision, adhere to safety rules, and collaborate with shop personnel

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and CDL.
• Experience with mid-range diesel engines (International, Cummins, Mercedes) and school bus systems; hydraulic and air brake systems; transmissions; drive lines and axles.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair engines and fuel systems; overhaul engines in/out of frame.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and air brake systems; rebuild calipers and brake components.
• Diagnose and repair or rebuild transmissions (auto and manual); clutch and pressure plate.
• Diagnose Motorola Radio System issues and perform minor repairs to radio/antenna/mic.
• Diagnose camera systems (REI and ANGEL TRAX); retrieve, download, and copy camera hard drives.
