Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Automotive Repair or related field, or HS diploma with cert program and 3–6 years related experience.
• Knowledge of school bus construction materials.
• Electrical systems knowledge for diagnostics.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines and buses.
• Knowledge of bus safety policies and local/state regulations.
• Vehicle maintenance records and procedures.
• Operate and repair school buses and other vehicles.
• Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic system skills.
• Read and understand schematics.
• Identify routine maintenance needs.
• Use air and hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on buses to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Repair school buses and address malfunctions for safe operation.
• Service support vehicles, including oil changes and minor repairs.
• Maintain an inventory of hand tools and clean/store tools after use.
• Log maintenance activities and prepare paperwork for repairs.
• Communicate effectively with bus drivers and team members during morning routes.
• Plan maintenance schedules and respond to unexpected breakdowns as needed.
• Manage tools, parts inventory, and vehicle-related records.
• Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
