Job summary

University of California, Los Angeles is seeking a journey-level Plumber to perform a full range of plumbing tasks across campus buildings and systems. You will inspect, repair, design, modify, and install piping, fixtures, and fittings, reading blueprints and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

The role requires skilled use of hand and power tools, adherence to trade codes, and the ability to work in varied environments. Schedule is 6:30AM - 3:00PM with union support and UCLA crew alignment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a certified 4-year trade-related apprenticeship program or equivalent experience and education.
• Working knowledge of current Uniform Plumbing Code, NFPA 99/13/50 and Title 24; UBC, OSHA and ADA requirements.
• Experience in domestic, industrial, commercial or process piping; knowledge of materials, equipment and tools.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical language in specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
• Safely operate tools and equipment including torching, threading, cutters, hammers, and gas-powered saws.
• Estimate material and labor requirements and perform cost calculations.
• Establish cooperative relationships; communicate clearly and professionally.
• Stand, crawl, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs; work in varied conditions.
• Work overtime, weekends, and various shifts; operate in confined spaces with respirator.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, design, modify campus plumbing systems and ensure efficient operation.
• Assemble, install and repair piping and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems.
• Read blueprints and develop layouts; cut, thread, and install pipes and fittings.
• Manage safety on job sites and communicate issues to supervision.
• Perform finish plumbing and trim work; clean up site after completion.
