Job summary

KIHOMAC in Layton, UT is seeking an energetic drone-assembly technician to support engineers and project teams. You will assist with scheduling, data gathering, and documentation, while building drone frames and testing assemblies to flight-readiness specifications.

You may participate in prototype builds and process improvements under supervision. Responsibilities include assembling components, calibrating systems, and diagnosing issues, with strict safety practices and use of hand tools.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses, database population, preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, and associated documentation
  • Participate in test or project events as assigned by Project Manager or Engineering supervisor
  • Report status and results
  • Demonstrate proficiency with hand tools, soldering irons, and basic test equipment
  • Assemble drone frames, motors, wiring systems, and electronic components according to detailed instructions and schematics
  • Conduct functional tests, calibrations, and flight-readiness checks
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to mechanical assembly, electrical connections, and firmware configuration
  • Document assembly procedures, test results, and any deviations or repairs
  • Assist with prototype builds and iterative design improvements
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and follow safety standards in handling tools and electronic components
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
Experience
  • 1+ years of experience in required task area
  • Experience with mechanical or electronic assembly (drone, RC, robotics, or similar preferred)
  • Familiarity with flight controller configuration software (e.g., Betaflight, ArduPilot, PX4)
  • Experience with 3D printing, CNC equipment, or composite materials
  • Understanding of UAV components (motors, ESCs, flight controllers, GPS modules, batteries) is a plus
  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions
Security
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp and reach with hands and arms, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time

The projected salary range for this position is $18 - $22 per hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation, rather actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or degrees held. Offered salary may fall outside of this range.
