Job summary

KIHOMAC in Layton, UT seeks an entry/mid-level technician to support engineering in drone assembly and testing. You will build frames, wire systems, and conduct functional tests under supervision, documenting results and deviations.

Candidate will read schematics, perform calibrations, and assist with prototype iterations while maintaining a clean, safety-conscious workspace.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree preferred in management or technical/scientific discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience in required task area.
  • Experience with mechanical or electronic assembly, especially drones/robotics is preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Project Manager or engineering staff on scheduling and data collection.
  • Assemble drone frames, motors, wiring systems, and components per schematics.
  • Conduct functional tests, calibrations, and flight-readiness checks.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and firmware issues.
  • Document procedures, test results, and deviations or repairs.
  • Assist with prototype builds and iterative design improvements.
  • Maintain organized, safe workspaces and follow PPE guidelines.
  • Report status and results of tests and activities.

Job description

Description * Provide support to either Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in the areas of scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses, database population, preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, and associated documentation

  • Participate in test or project events as assigned by Project Manager or Engineering supervisor
  • Report status and results
  • Demonstrate proficiency with hand tools, soldering irons, and basic test equipment
  • Asssemble drone frames, motors, wiring systems, and electronic components according to detailed instructions and schematics
  • Conduct functional tests, calibrations, and flight-readiness checks
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to mechanical assembly, electrical connections, and firmware configuration
  • Document assembly procedures, test results, and any deviations or repairs
  • Assist with prototype builds and iterative design improvements
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and follow safety standards in handling tools and electronic components
  • Other duties as assigned Requirements Education/Training: * High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred

Experience: * 1+ years of experience in required task area

  • Experience with mechanical or electronic assembly (drone, RC, robotics, or similar preferred).
  • Familiarity with flight controller configuration software (e.g., Betaflight, ArduPilot, PX4).
  • Experience with 3D printing, CNC equipment, or composite materials.
  • Understanding of UAV components (motors, ESCs, flight controllers, GPS modules, batteries) is a plus * Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions
  • Security: * Must be a US citizen * Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
  • Physical Requirements: * Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp and reach with hands and arms, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Prolonged periods of standing while operating machinery
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task * Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time

  • Wellness Resources Salary: The projected salary range for this position is $18 - $22 per hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation, rather actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or degrees held. Offered salary may fall outside of this range.
