Job summary

State of Wyoming seeks a skilled Journeyman Electrician to support electrical work across facilities in Southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne. Responsibilities include inspection, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems to keep critical facilities running safely.

The role requires a Wyoming Journeyman Electrician License, 3+ years of electrical experience, and a valid driver’s license; security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician License required in Wyoming.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical experience preferred.
  • Driver's license required and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
  • Knowledge of National, State, and Local electrical codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical inspection, troubleshooting, design, installation, alteration, and repair of circuits and components.
  • Work on electrical distribution systems, coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs.
  • Schedule tests, file reports, and ensure compliance with code standards.
  • Repair and replace power distribution panels, lighting, switches, and HVAC related electrical parts.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Help power the mission of the Wyoming Army National Guard by performing skilled electrical work that keeps critical facilities running safely and efficiently. In this role, you will support construction, remodels, repairs, and preventative maintenance of electrical systems across more than 500,000 square feet of facilities in Southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne, Wheatland, Laramie, and Torrington. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Perform electrical inspection, troubleshooting, design, installation, alteration, and repair of main and branch circuits of interior and exterior electrical systems.
  • Perform work on all phases of electrical distribution systems, repairs, and replacement of components on a large number of complex, electronically and digitally controlled systems, both interior and exterior. Contacts outside vendors for parts, technical assistance, repairs, and installations.
  • Schedules tests, makes repairs, and files reports to meet national fire alarm code standards and other Wyoming State authorities.
  • Repair and replace power distribution panels, light fixtures, switches, receptacles, heating, and cooling motors, compressors, emergency generators, and electrical parts for HVAC systems, fire suppression systems, and electronic/digital controls.
  • Calculates loads for electrical equipment and designs the installation to meet or exceed the National Electrical Code and any requirements by the state of Wyoming.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs; assess conditions of system components to determine estimated useful life, suitability, efficiency, and repairs needed to meet industry norms.
  • Assist with general construction activities, including work on HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and other skilled trades operations as directed.
  • Maintain generators, transfer switches, and components of emergency systems.
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to applicants with a Wyoming Journeyman Electrician License and three (3) or more years of electrical experience.

Required to obtain/maintain a Driver's License

Required to obtain/maintain Federal Security Clearance

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of National, State, and Local electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical, heating, and air conditioning.
  • Knowledge of the application of electrical and other test equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic construction and renovation standards, methods, and practices
  • Employee may be subject to after-hours callback or reporting to work outside of their normally scheduled hours

Journeyman Electrician License

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Required to travel 30-40% of the time (mostly day trips)
  • This position is classified as essential personnel
  • May be subject to call back 24 hours/7 days a week
  • Employee may be subject to after-hours callback or reporting to work outside of their normally scheduled hours
