Job summary
Novelis is seeking an engineer for the Kennesaw Joining and Forming Team to advance sheet aluminum joining technologies for automotive applications. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists and technicians across metallurgy, surfaces, and corrosion to solve complex joining challenges.
The role emphasizes project management, hands-on joining technology like resistance spot welding, laser welding, and mechanical joining, with opportunities to travel to global sites and contribute to patents
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Materials/Metallurgical or Welding Eng with 3–5 years experience or MS/PhD with 1–2 years.
- Track record of developing joining technologies for automotive OEMs or other industries.
- Experience planning, resourcing, and executing large projects to on-time delivery.
- Experience presenting project highlights and outcomes to collaborators.
- Knowledge of aluminum alloy systems in automotive or can body applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead advances in joining to innovate ideas in applications.
- Manage internal and external customer projects from concept to completion.
- Share knowledge in Joining and disseminate findings.
- Address customer aluminum joining issues including mixed material joining.
- Leverage data to inform design constraints and trials.
- Write technical reports and support patents.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and ASI standards.
