Novelis North America Automotive Technical Development is seeking a Senior Technical Development Engineer in Novi, MI. This senior individual contributor applies broad automotive aluminum expertise to develop, qualify, launch, and improve products and processes, serving as a trusted technical advisor to OEMs and internal teams.

The role involves leading complex projects from concept through production, managing trials, and guiding decisions that drive customer satisfaction and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Metallurgical, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Typically 8–10 years of relevant automotive sheet metal or aluminum product experience.
• Proven track record leading complex engineering projects and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple product and process development projects from concept to stable production.
• Plan/direct plant, laboratory, and customer trials; analyze results and make recommendations.
• Advise OEMs on alloy, forming, joining, and application requirements; support design and manufacturing reviews.
• Lead root-cause investigations and manage risks affecting launch, quality, or capacity.
