Job summary

Novelis in Kennesaw, GA, is seeking an Engineer to join the Joining and Forming Team, focusing on automotive aluminum joining technologies. Collaborate with engineers, scientists, technicians to push innovative solutions across Can, Automotive, Aerospace, and Specialties, while managing projects from concept to completion.

You will work with joining methods such as resistance spot welding, self-piercing riveting, laser welding, and other mechanical joining, contributing to IP through reports and

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Materials/Metallurgical or Welding Eng with 3–5 years of work experience.
• MS/PhD with 1–2 years of work experience.
• Experience developing joining tech for automotive OEMs or related industries.
• Strong project planning, resourcing and on-time delivery track record.
• Ability to present project highlights to collaborators.
• Knowledge of aluminum alloys and joining processes (spot weld, riveting, laser).

Responsibilities

• Lead science and engineering advances in joining to innovate new ideas.
• Lead large internal and external customer projects from concept to completion.
• Provide technical sharing and knowledge dissemination in Joining.
• Address customer aluminum joining issues including mixed-material joining.
• Leverage data to inform design constraints and trial scenarios.
• Provide technical competency in aluminum joining.
• Write technical reports and support patent filing.
