Job description

Position Summary

The Job Coach/Direct Support Professional provides vocational assistance, support, liaison, and advocacy services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to secure or maintain competitive employment in the community.

General Responsibilities
  • Assist adults with developmental disabilities and other significant barriers to employment in work‑related skills, soft skills training, resume writing, interviewing, interpersonal communication, and effective job searching.
  • Develop and implement Person‑Centered Care Planning and Individual Vocational Goals for participants who are currently employed or seeking employment.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with supervisors, project staff, referring agencies, family members, and other support persons to support vocational outcomes.
  • Provide on‑job supports and follow‑up activities to ensure successful employment outcomes.
  • Monitor client progress and submit daily, monthly, and quarterly progress reports per guidelines.
  • Serve as a liaison for program planning, conflict resolution, and ongoing clinical and vocational support.
  • Attend internal and external program, staff, and training meetings as required.
  • Maintain a caseload of no more than five participants.
  • Educate participants and employers as necessary and with proper consent.
  • Assist participants in negotiating reasonable accommodations under the ADA and identify necessary job site modifications.
  • Stand or walk on building grounds for 4–5 hours and comply with job site policies and contractual requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Medical Technician, Public Health, Therapy, or any related healthcare or business field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in Supported Employment.
  • Clearance of background checks: Department of Health Registry, National Sex Offender Database, Office of Inspector General Database, Board of Nurses Aid Registry, Library of Congress (if selected for that location).
  • Part‑time employment.
  • Pay: $22.00 per hour.
  • Benefits: Paid time off.
  • Work location: In‑person, DC Metro area.
Shifts

Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat: 2:00pm – 7:00pm; Mon: 10:00am – 2:30pm, Thu: 11:00am – 3:00pm; Mon–Fri (3–4 days): 12:00pm – 4:00/6:00pm. Preference for day shift; night shift also possible. Shift availability is flexible.
