Job summary

Position Summary

DC Cares Center is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and motivated Job Coach to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving meaningful employment and developing the skills necessary for workplace success. The Job Coach will provide individualized coaching, training, and ongoing support to help individuals obtain, maintain, and advance in competitive employment while promoting independence, confidence, and self‑sufficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Education, or a related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing vocational, employment, coaching, case management, or direct support services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, employers, and community partners.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background screenings and employment clearances.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in identifying employment goals, strengths, interests, and career opportunities.
• Provide individualized job coaching and on-site training to promote successful job performance.
• Develop and implement employment support plans based on each individual's goals and abilities.
• Assist individuals with job searches, applications, résumé development, interview preparation, and employment readiness.
• Monitor job performance and provide constructive feedback and skill development.
• Maintain regular communication with employers to ensure successful employment outcomes and address workplace concerns.
• Support individuals in developing workplace communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
• Promote independence while gradually reducing support when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, employment records, and required reports in accordance with agency, state, and funding source requirements.
• Coordinate with case managers, families, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and other service providers to ensure continuity of services.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, confidentiality requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of supported employment and person‑centered planning principles.
• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Familiarity with state and local vocational rehabilitation programs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
• Ability to travel throughout the community to various employment sites.
• Ability to accompany individuals in community and workplace settings for extended periods.
