Job summary

Windsor Independent Living Association (WILA) in Windsor, CT is seeking a Job Coach to support adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in competitive employment settings. The role includes advocating for self-directed work and ensuring proper documentation for Medicaid billing, with daily activities at various worksites.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm (40 hours weekly). Salary ranges from $18.50 to $21.00 hourly.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school degree or GED; a college degree is preferred.
  • Active CPR, First Aid and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with IDs/DDs in a residential or day-program setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for individuals to lead self-directed lives and provide meaningful vocational programs and community activities.
  • Participate in all meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary & Key Areas of Ownership

The goal of of the Job Coach is to encourage meaningful employment opportunities, support individuals with IDD/DD at their places of employment to ensure appropriate work behaviors and help them navigate competitive employment. When the Job Coach is not at a work site, they may be asked to fill in for our senior supports program that encourages community activities for our residents who are retired.

Schedule: Monday through Friday – 8am – 4pm (40 hours weekly).

Salary Range: $ 18.00 to $20.00, per hour.

Core Responsibilities

  • Advocating for individuals to lead self-directed lives; engage individuals daily to provide meaningful vocational programs and community activities: plan, schedule and participate in various therapeutic activities; day to day problem solving; completion of all required documentation for Medicaid billing; transporting individuals to activities or their worksite; readying clients for the day and providing hands on care for those needing assistance with ADL and hygiene skills; administering medication; professional communication with the individuals, their families, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Participate in all meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

  • Must possess a high school degree or GED certification; a college degree is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting; day program experience preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership and stakeholders and work with diverse teams.
  • Active CPR, First Aid and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Application and Therap.
  • Must possess an active DDS Medication Certification***
