Job summary

Windsor Independent Living Association in Windsor, CT is seeking an ADL Counselor for Awake Overnight shifts to support adults with intellectual disabilities. You will provide direct care, monitor safety, administer medications, support daily living activities, and follow IP plans to promote independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
• Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, preferably in residential settings.
• Active CPR and First Aid certifications; DDS Medication Administration Certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications and Therap.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and supervision including medication administration, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Follow behavior and medical protocols and implement IP.
• Attend night needs and ready individuals for the day; participate in staff meetings.

Position Summary & Key Areas of Ownership

Responsibilities of the ADL Counselor position include demonstrating a commitment to community integration and support of adults with intellectual disabilities; act with integrity; honor confidentiality; show pride in WILA; be professional; possess self-confidence, optimism, and perseverance; show good judgment; possess good verbal and written communication skills; possess good computer skills; possess good organizational skills; be able to work independently; interact with tact and social sensitivity; and be flexible and willing to adapt to the changes/needs of the program and the individuals served.

Schedule

Sunday 10:00pm - 8:00am

Monday 10:00pm - 8:00am

Friday 11:00pm - 10:00am

Every Other Saturday 10:00pm - 8:00am

Salary Range: $18.00 to $21.00, per hour.

Core Responsibilities

• Responsibilities of the awake overnight counselor at Lochview CLA include but are not limited to: other duties include advocating for individuals to lead self- directed lives; providing care and supervision including med administration, hygiene, showering, activities of daily living, following behavior and medical protocols, and implementing all aspects of their IP; attending to individuals' needs during the night; readying the individuals for the day; timely status check call-ins, miscellaneous household upkeep and other assigned third shift duties; professional communication; and participating in staff meetings.
• Participate in all meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

• Must possess a high school degree or GED certification; a college degree is preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting; day program experience preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with leadership and stakeholders and work with diverse teams.
• Active CPR, First Aid and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Application and Therap.
• Must possess an active DDS Medication Certification.
