Are you passionate about making a real difference and helping others achieve independence? As a Job Coach, you will play a critical role in helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain, maintain, and succeed in meaningful employment.
This is a highly personalized, hands-on role requiring a balance of mentorship, advocacy, and practical skill-building. You will work directly with individuals at their job sites- either at community businesses where we hold group employment contracts or where participants are hired directly- ensuring they have the tools, confidence, and workplace support to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Individualized Assessment & Skill Building
- Evaluate & Plan: Assess individuals' unique skills, strengths, interests, and limitations to build tailored employment paths and implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Pre-Employment Preparation: Teach critical soft and technical skills, including resume building, interview etiquette, and workplace behavior. Conduct mock interviews and assist with applications.
On-the-Job Coaching & Integration
- Hands-On Support: Work side-by-side with clients at their job sites. Break down complex tasks into manageable steps, guide social interactions, and teach job-specific duties.
- Advocacy & Liaison: Act as a bridge between the employee, the employer, and support teams. Educate employers on ADA accommodations and foster inclusive work environments.
- Daily Living & Autonomy: Assist with daily life skills related to employment, such as budgeting, self-care/hygiene, food prep, socialization, and safely transporting individuals to work or appointments.
Program Site Operations & Team Collaboration
- Site Management: Share in daily site operations as designated by the Employment Manager, including providing direct care coverage across scheduled shifts (including awake overnight shifts when required).
- Documentation: Maintain precise records, collect data to track ISP progress, and ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards and human rights protections.
- Team Participation: Actively participate in staff meetings, peer evaluations, professional development programs, and regular supervision.
Role Requirements & Qualifications
- A Passion for Empowerment: A strong interest in working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (prior experience or related education is highly preferred).
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build respectful, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with the individuals we serve.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; proficiency in reading, writing, and transcribing English.
- Core Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency for documentation and data collection.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift and assist individuals with physical disabilities or limited mobility.
