Job summary

Goodwill NYNJ seeks a dedicated Job Coach to support consumers through on-the-job training and continuous coaching. You will train clients on public transit options, maintain detailed case notes, and coordinate with service providers to expand community integration.

Your role includes facilitating pre-placement activities, assisting with job searches, and reporting work hours to maximize funded support. Travel to sites in Harlem, Bronx, and surrounding areas is expected, including some evenings

Qualifications

  • AA Degree in human services or 3-5 years of related experience.
  • MS Word, Excel and Outlook proficiency required.
  • ASL fluency and SCPI certification preferred for deaf/HOH cases.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intensive on-the-job training for newly placed consumers.
  • Train consumers on public transportation options.
  • Provide ongoing coaching monthly for LTFA consumers.
  • Maintain case documentation weekly and write monthly LTFA case notes.
  • Track service hours and submit reports for additional hours when needed.
  • Assist to connect trainees with community resources and providers.
  • Train new co-workers and supervisors on best practices with consumers.
  • Assist pre-placement activities and job search for clients.
  • Coordinate with DVRS and referral agencies and participate in CARF audits.
  • Attend rehab and staff meetings; participate in job development meetings.

Job description

Location: Harlem & Bronx NY
The Awesome Things You’ll Do
  • Perform intensive on-the-job training with newly placed consumers.
  • Train the consumers on public transportation alternatives to get to/from work.
  • Provide ongoing coaching on a monthly basis for consumers needing long-term follow along (LTFA).
  • Keep track of task analysis for the purpose of training new hires on the job.
  • Maintain case documentation on a weekly basis for intensive job coaching consumers. Write case notes on a monthly basis for LTFA consumers.
  • Track # of service hours provided to each consumer and submit activity reports on time to get vouchers for additional hours when needed.
  • Perform case management services as required, to include linking the trainee with other service providers or community resources such as: recreation, education, transportation or leisure, in order to further enhance the trainee’s integration into the community.
  • Train consumers’ new co-workers and supervisors on how to best work with the newly placed consumer.
  • Assist to find jobs for pre-placement clients including conducting pre-placement activities, workshops and job search.
  • Contacts DVRS & other referral agencies for placement, supported employment and/ or job coaching referrals. Submit monthly job coaching reports. Participate in CARF audits.
  • Attend rehab dept and all staff meetings. Attend job development meetings.

Activities are subject to change / be added to meet business needs with management approval.

Our Must Haves
  • AA Degree in human services field from an accredited college. Alternatively, High School diploma and 3-5 years’ experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook required. For job coaches working with deaf and HOH consumers, fluency in American Sign Language required and SCPI certification preferred.
  • Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and pass license check. Must be willing to use private transportation to travel to employers and serve consumers in counties throughout Northern NJ.
Special Working Conditions
  • The Job Coach reports to the Director of Rehabilitation and does not supervise other staff.
  • Job primarily consists of field on-site and offsite face to face visits with consumers.
  • Expected to make site visits during consumer work schedules and will consist of night and weekend work in the community.
